EBDOG EDUCATION BUILDING DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS GROUP EBDOG AUTUMN CONFERENCE WINTER GARDENS, WESTON-SUPER-MARE FRIDAY 6 NOVEMBER 2015 EBDOG (Education Building Development Officers Group) is a national group of local authority officers and property professionals who are responsible for the effective asset management of the school estate and other local authority premises; representing a range of local authority perspectives, leading national debate and seek to influence policy on school organisation, pupil place planning and capital investment in school infrastructure. The programme of engaging and informative speakers and workshops is structured around how to make the best use of school buildings to improve learner outcomes and how we can negotiate the complex funding and policy processes to still deliver educationally sound buildings at a competitive price. This year we are privileged to have the following keynote speakers: Professor Peter Barrett - Professor of Management in Property and Construction at Salford University who is currently focusing on a strongly interdisciplinary study of the impacts of school designs on pupils’ learning (the HEAD Project). This stream of activities is complemented by extensive involvement in built environment policy groups at UK, EU (ECTP) and international (CIB) levels The conference is aimed at professionals with responsibility for: Education Capital Investment School Organisation Pupil Place Planning School Property Matters Why attend? The conference will cover a number of building and demand related topics including: Who should attend? How to navigate CIL/s106 Looking at standard designs using a costed framework A solution to the complex procurement process Section 77 Disposals and Change of use Representatives from both the DfE and EFA will be giving presentations about current initiatives and priorities, including the challenge for local authorities in many parts of the country to meet rising demand in both the primary and secondary sector, as well as how to deliver our statutory responsibilities within available capital funding. The conference is also your opportunity to discuss issues with representatives from the DfE and offer feedback about school capacity surveys and school place planning.
