Approximately 56% of taxa were assigned feeding links via either gut content analyses or
personal observations made in the field by AKF or AMH. Only feeding relationships
between co-occurring taxa are shown here; potential links between taxa that never cooccurred in experimental mesocosms are omitted from this list. A complete consumerresource matrix containing the composite food web with all potential links between
species is given as an electronic supplement associated with this article. No consumer
diets in our dataset were determined solely by discussion with experts (source J in Table
S1.2). All feeding links with expert sources were also supported by at least one literature
source, or gut content analyses or personal observations in the field by AKF and AMH.
These expert opinions were sought in order to add confidence to our dataset.
