Students will be given 20 minutes to complete the 4 week exam from the prior day.
Activity:
Guided practice from teacher examples (see attached PERIMETER OF REGULAR POLYGONS); Note that please make
sure students know how to follow the order of the table either reading it RIGHT TO LEFT as well as LEFT TO RIGHT.
Students will use the Kagan strategy of Paris-Compare to share results of solving for missing variable and
understanding the “rule”\formulas.
Objective: The student uses letters as variables in mathematical expressions
to describe how one quantity changes when a related quantity changes.

Coop Learning
Start the class with students working with boards to find the relationship when adding a shaded row\column to the
square and rectangle. Allow kiddos to try to use different colors of markers as they build there shapes when adding a
row\column. See if students can come up with a formula when the image is becoming larger; this is using M.Tate
strategy #18 using visuals.
Teacher guided instruction working on teacher examples of area and volume (see attached).
Please make sure kiddos know how to apply rule and reading the formula from the math charts.
