Miss Richmond (House Base) Guitar Club We will be holding a Guitar Club on Wednesday lunch times in Music Room 3 anyone welcome to join us. Mr McManus (Music Dept) Food Bank!! Would you like to help feed some hungry people who live in West Lothian? Whitburn Academy is now a collection point for the Food Bank which is based in Whitburn. Food Banks rely on the support of local communities. If you would like to contribute to the collections basket you can find it in the House Base. They are also looking for toiletries eg shower gel, shampoo, shaving foam, soap, deodorant and also tinned potatoes, packets of smash, cooking sauces, sponge pudding and soap powder (tablets). The box will be taken to the Food Bank every Friday afternoon. They are also looking for volunteers to help out (S5/6 students). Mrs Grey (House Base) Student Health and Wellbeing Group There will be a Health and Wellbeing meeting on Thursday @ 1.30pm in room 306. Miss Richmond (House Base) Singing group We will be holding a Singing Group on Tuesday lunch times in Music Room 3 anyone welcome to join us. Keyboard group We will be holding a Keyboard Club on Thursday lunch times in Music Room 3 anyone welcome to join us. Mrs Kirton (Music Dept) Guitar Club We will be holding a Guitar Club on Wednesday lunch times in Music Room 3 anyone welcome to join us. Mr McManus (Music Dept) Equality Group We would like to invite any student to feel welcome to come to a bi-weekly (Tuesdays) drop in session for a safe place to feel accepted. This starts on Tuesday 3rd November in room 202 during all of lunchtime (please feel free to bring your lunch with you). Once a month we will have discussion topic, otherwise this is a place to drop in for a chat and feel safe to share your feelings and thoughts. Art Club Any S1-S3 pupils wishing to join the Art club should come to Miss Mackay's room (Art 3) on Wednesday lunchtime (with their lunch). Miss Mackay (Art Dept) CRC Article of the month for November Article 4: Protection of Rights. Governments must do all they can to make sure every child can enjoy their rights. Create a poster for the article of the month. Winning poster will be displayed around the school including the RRS/HWB board. Deadline: Friday 27th November - handed to Miss McGrath. Miss McGrath (Maths Department) Lunchtime in the Library From 12.10.15 the Library will be open only to S1 pupils on a Monday and S2 pupils on a Tuesday. The rest of the week will stay the same. (See notice on the Library door or Librarian for more information) Drama Club The Drama Club will be meeting on Thursday lunchtime at 1.30pm (bring lunch with them) in Miss Jarvis’s room 113. (All year groups welcome) Miss Jarvis (English Dept) Theatre Production We have the opportunity to perform at the West Lothian Schools Shakespeare Festival on February 11th 2016 at Howden Park. The drama club is looking for enthusiastic pupils who would love the chance to perform and have a bit of fun. We are going to produce an abridged version of 'Twelfth Night' and will be holding open auditions in the drama studio on Thursday 12th November in the drama studio. Can you please promote this in tutor, and ask anyone interested to collect a monologue to prepare for this from either myself or Ms MacDonald in the English dept. Miss Jarvis (English Dept) Junior Pupil Council Meeting The Junior Pupil Council will be held period 6 on Thursday this week (5th November) in Miss Steel's room (213). Could S1, S2 and S3 Tutors please remind their classes of this. Pupils reps should be using Tutor to speak to their peers to represent their views at the meeting. Pupils have a responsibility to catch up with any classwork missed. Miss Steel (History Dept) Vine Trust sponsored bike ride A huge thank you to staff and pupils who have been cycling for us, we are about half way to Tanzania! This is the last week that we have the bikes which have been loaned to us by Xcite. Can I ask that those of you who have not yet completed your cycle let the Vine Trust pupils know when you wish to use the bikes and we can then team up to make it more fun and get those final miles clocked up ! Thank you also to all of you who have sponsored our pupils and staff. As the money is collected please pay directly to Kirsty Forrest. Can you please also return your sponsor forms to me.
