Tartuffe
Music and libretto by Kirke Mecham
Based on a play by Molière
When you plan to give a somewhat dubious holy man your daughter’s hand,
you’d better make sure he isn’t also seducing your wife and robbing you blind. A
lively and hilarious look at hypocrisy and greed hiding behind a mask of piety,
Molière’s Tartuffe is one of the great classics of the theatre. This opera version
has already had over 100 productions around the world and will delight you with
its brio, wit, and charm. Our production is set in an elegant villa in Monaco in the
1920’s. Sung in English with English surtitles.
Free preview lectures begin 45 minutes before curtain.
The composer/librettist will be present for the weekend performances and
preview lectures.

Amelia
Music by Daron Hagen
Libretto by Gardner McFall
Story by Stephen Wadsworth
Haunted by her father's death, when he was a pilot in the Vietnam War, a woman
comes to terms with the ghosts of her past, the dream of flight, and the hope of
being reborn. Anyone who has ever loved a parent, a spouse, or a child
will not
fail to be moved by this soaring and lyrical opera. Premiered in 2010 by the
Seattle Opera, we are proud to present its second production. Sung in English
with English surtitles.
Amelia is being presented, in part, with a generous grant from The Cullen Trust
for the Performing Arts.
Free preview lectures begin 45 minutes before curtain.
The composer and librettist will be present for the weekend performances and
preview lectures.

Der Rosenkavalier
A comedy for music
Music by Richard Strauss
Libretto by Hugo von Hoffmansthal
The Viennese have a custom: when you are to be married, the Knight of the
Rose ceremoniously delivers a silver rose from your fiancé as a sign of your
engagement. But you are not supposed to fall in love with the messenger!
Nostalgic waltzes permeate this sublime score, conjuring up old Vienna in all its
glory, while lavish costumes and scenery form a backdrop to a story that is one
part autumnal romance and one part romp. This special event is a once-in-alifetime opportunity to experience this opera in an intimate setting. Sung in
German with English surtitles.
Free preview lecture begins 45 minutes before curtain.
