I can recognize one to one letter/sound correspondence. I can I can pronounce, blend and segment
syllables in spoken words. I can recognize that letters make up words and words make up sentences. I
can recognize and read common high frequency sight words. I can retell a story.
Math Standards: OA 1, OA 3, OA 4, OA5
I can use materials or pictures/symbols to find numbers added together to make 10. I can take apart
numbers less than or equal to 10 into pairs in more than one way. I can tell whether an addition or
subtraction problem is used to put together or take apart.
Thoughtful Education Strategy


Reading: Defining Knowledge – Students read their sight words, write a sentence using the words and
illustrate the sentence.
Exercise: Exercise the use of math vocabulary. Learn vocabulary by use, with manipulatives and objects to
demonstrate understanding.
