Key Responsibility Areas:

1.0

Overall Purpose: a) To develop and lead on the strategic vision for the organisation, in partnership with the board and staff, ensuring LVSC acts as a collaborative leader for the voluntary and community sector b) To work with government, community based organisations, business and others to provide holistic solutions to addressing poverty within London’s communities. c) To develop and Implement a robust framework for engagement between business, government, and communities within the London region. d) To increase and diversify LVSC’s income base, and develop and sustain relationships with key funders. e) To maintain and develop LVSC’s commitment to London’s diverse communities, by developing and sustaining key organisational relationships, such as with local CVSs and other voluntary and community based organisations.

Key Accountabilities

2.0

Governance and Decision making a) Provide trustees with appropriate, timely and relevant information and advice to enable them to exercise their responsibilities and ensure decisions are well informed, clear and implemented. b) Ensure the organisation meets all its legal responsibilities under charity and other relevant law, and service as Company Secretary. c) To lead the overall management of the organisation.

3.0 Strategy and direction a) Work with the board & staff to develop and regularly review the strategic goals of LVSC through its strategic and business plans.

4.0 Awareness and managing change a) Periodically review the operations of the organisation to ensure that it is fit for purpose, in keeping with the overall mission, vision and strategic priorities. Implement changes while team building and developing a common purpose.

5.0 Profile, public relations and influence a) Develop and maintain the relationship and infrastructure support between business, government and the voluntary and community sector. b) To articulate the solutions for addressing LVSCs cross-cutting themes

(poverty, health, inequality and climate change), to Government and

Businesses representing the London region. c) To promote examples of good practice within the voluntary and community sector in London.

6.0 Policy work a) To work with the policy team to provide strategic leadership on policy issues and respond to related policy developments that are likely to impact on the root causes of LVSC strategic themes. b) Work with the policy team to persuade and influence policymakers and funders through meetings, presentations and written reports.

7.0 Management a) Responsibility for all matters related to human and financial resources, business development and IT support b) Lead on the development and implementation of a fundraising strategy and relationships with key funders’

c) Manage & develop, and market key projects within the organisation. These currently include PEACe, & Transforming Local Infrastructure, developing services as sustainable business where appropriate.

Person Specification

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Experience & Qualifications: a) Experience of running a small organisation, and hands on experience of managing: Human Resources and staff management, complex financial issues; marketing and communications; IT and contract management. b) Educated to at least degree level, vocational equivalent or at least 7 years senior management experience. c) Must demonstrate ability to think and act strategically, and have experience of strategic planning and leadership. d) Experience of managing successful change, both internally and externally and supporting staff through that process. e) Experience of developing & managing new and existing projects and business proposals, bidding for grants, generating income, and securing contracts. f) Experience of developing and presenting proposals to businesses and government with successful outcomes. g) Experience of identifying trends, responding strategically and enabling others to do so, dealing with a diverse range of policy issues. h) Experience of balancing the demands of different stakeholders at different levels of understanding.
