-Full name: Zaoui Ali -Birthday: 13/08/1965. -Family status: Maried, 3 kids. -Citizenship: French Career History Ali Zaoui is a professor of Universities (Polytech'Lille / University of Lille1) since February 2005. He was promoted to the first class of professors on September 2009; then to the exceptional class of professors (equivalent to distinguished professor). He received his PhD from the University of Metz in June 1999. In September 1999 he was employed as a research associate at the INFM (National Institute of Matter Physics), Italy. He then had another offer to the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart, Germany where he remained until his appointment to Lille1. His research has been mainly dedicated to the modelling and simulation methods based on ab initio, molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo. They cover a wide range of systems including semiconductors, metals, ceramics, energetic materials, peroskites, geomaterials (rocks, clays, ..) and nanocomposites. The area of applications is related to several properties such as high pressure, temperature, magnetism, surfaces, interfaces, diffusion, phonons, band structure, alloys,… Honors Since October 2010: Scientific excellence award (PES) of the first level (type A: top).
