Applicable for students admitted into the Master of Economic Theory and Econometrics
from autumn 2010.
Degree requirements for a Bachelor of Arts with a specialization in Economics for
students admitted into the 5-year Master of Economic Theory and Econometrics:
To obtain a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Social Sciences the student must have obtained at
least 180 ECTS credits. . These credits must be obtained following the structure of the programme.
Students admitted into the 5 year programme in Economic Theory and Econometrics must
complete the following courses in order to receive a Bachelor of Arts with a main field of study in
Economics:
1. Ex.phil and Ex.fac. (20 ECTS credits)
2. Specialization (100 ECTS credits):
ECON1210 – Consumer Behavior, Firm Behavior and Markets
ECON1310 – Macroeconomic Theory and Policy
ECON2200 – Mathematics 1/Microeconomics 1
ECON2130 – Statistics 1
ECON2310 – Macroeconomic analysis
ECON2915 – Growth and Business Structure
ECON3610 – Resource Allocation and Economic Policy
ECON3010 - Applied Economic Analysis
One elective ECON-course
3. 40-course group (in Economic Theory and econometrics):
ECON4120/3120 ‐ Mathematics2: Calculus and linear algebra
ECON4150/3150 ‐ Introductory Econometrics (can be replaced by ECON4135)
ECON4200/3200 – Microeconomics and game theory
ECON4310 – Intertemporal macroeconomics
ECON4240 – Equilibrium, welfare and information (previously “Game theory and economics of
information”)
Previous courses that can also be accepted in the 40-course group:
ECON4410/3410 – Introductory dynamic macroeconomics
ECON4230 – Microeconomic theory
ECON4210/3210 Decisions, markets and incentives
ECON4215/3215 Microeconomics
All of these courses can be included in a 40-credit group in Economic Theory and Econometrics.
Students must have completed four of these courses, giving a total of 40 ECTS credits.
4. Elective courses (20 ECTS credits):
Also included in the degree are two elective courses (20 ECTS credits) that the student may choose
freely, provided they do not overlap with the obligatory courses in the programme or the courses
the student has chosen in the 40-credit group. It is possible to use courses in economics here as
well.
