Please RSVP by: May 11, 2015 Mark Winston (503) 888-1836RSVP Online: https://abbvie.meintl.com/rsvp.aspx?ProgramID=A0401-LP02-15 In February, we hosted a 4- hour educational event, The Transgender Child. This 4- hour program focused on transgender children and youth, with speakers who brought expertise from various backgrounds to discuss support of the transgender child through advocacy, medical care, mental health care and shared experience. Speakers included the executive director of TransActvie Gender Center, an advocacy organization, Pediatric Endocrinologist and Psychiatric NP from Legacy Emanuel’s Transgender Clinic, and a mother of a transgender child speaking about the family experience. There were 27 attendees and 5 of the attendees experienced the event via live webinar. It was a great event with lots of positive feedback. I was also pleased that 2 of the 4 speakers were NPs. There was one glitch that needs attention. I had planned to have our annual business meeting at the end of the event, but unfortunately was called out of town, and there were no other board members in attendance, therefore, we still need to have an annual business meeting open to all members. The board meets on April 26th and we will certainly discuss options. I am looking into ways to have an online business meeting to capture as many members as possible. Chapters like the e-chapter use Intercall or other online resources to host meetings. Another thought is to offer a social hour then host a business meeting. Any thoughts or suggestions are certainly welcome. I'm hoping to have conduct a business meeting in May. The annual board meeting is a time to be together, network, and socialize. It is also a time to update membership regarding events, finances, and accomplishments. In addition, we want to dialogue about needs, suggestions for further growth, and goals for the upcoming year. This is my last year as president and will be a good time to begin transition to our next president, Cindi Farmstrom. Lastly, the national office has updated bylaws and we will need to read, update, make changes as needed, and sign our updated Oregon bylaws by June 1st. The board will start this work with our next board meeting April 26th. With our business meeting we will finalize with member participation and voting. What treat to it was to attend the NAPNAP national conference in Las Vegas. If I counted correctly, we had 12 Oregon attendees. Pat Savage was our scholarship winner this year. Oh gosh, I hope I didn't leave anyone out! Next year the conference will be March 16-19th, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, in Atlanta, Georgia.
