Name: Homeroom: What is Google Classroom & How do I use it? Google Classroom is a secure, social, learning platform for teachers, students, schools, and districts. It provides a safe and easy way for our class to collaborate, share content and access homework, grades, and school notices. Google Classroom’s goal is to help educators and students harness the power of social media to customize the classroom for each and every learner. How do I set up an Account? 1) You have already been given a username, password, and email address that will be used to log in to Google Classroom. This should be taped into your planner. 2) Go to https://classroom.google.com 3) First you will have to Sign In by entering your email address and password as they are printed on the card you received from your homeroom teacher. 4) Once you have signed in for the first time, you will have to click that you accept the terms and conditions. This will not happen every time you sign in. 5) You will then be on the general Google Classroom home page. You will have to select whether you are a student or teacher. Click “Student”. 6) You will then be on your specific Google Classroom home page, and you will see that you have been invited to join classes from your 6th grade teachers. For each class, click the blue “Join” button and you will be taken to that class. Feel free to take the quick “tour” that pops up when you join a class for the first time. 7) To return to your home screen, click the 3 horizontal bars in the top left corner of the screen. You should “Join” each of the classes that you have been invited to. 8) You’re all set! Congratulations and welcome to Google Classroom!
