CAPITOL REGION EDUCATION COUNCIL POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Trainer III Program: River Street School General Purpose: Under the general direction of the Director River Street School, to provide training and technical assistance on children with autism to the River Street School Autism Program and to local boards of education. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Assists the Director in program development and maintenance by developing program standards, providing guidance to autism case coordinators, developing comprehensive services programs for LEAs and conducting quality assurance checks on existing programs. 2. Maintains a caseload of students. Attends team meetings, conducts assessments, develops objectives and educational programs and supervises program execution. 3. Provides technical assistance to LEAs and River Street School by planning and providing workshops, forums, presentations and on-site consultations designed to improve the quality of services delivered to children with autism. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requires Masters degree or PhD in Psychology or Speech plus 10 years experience in special education systems serving children with autism or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be knowledgeable and competent in applied behavior analysis, autism intervention and characteristics, family support, management of problem behavior and communication/language training. Supervision None. Working Conditions Occasionally requires application of physical strength and stamina to restrain a child experiencing a behavioral crisis.
