Acceptance of a Grant from the Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission for an Historic
Preservation Grant to fund the Replacement of the Cedar-Shake Roof and Flashing on the Historic Brick
Academy Building in Basking Ridge and to the Fabrication and installation of an Historic Marker
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution #2013-0190 adopted on April 23, 2013 by the Bernards Township
Committee, authorized a grant application to the Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission
for an Historic Preservation Grant to be used to replace the Brick Academy Roof; and
WHEREAS, the Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission has awarded a grant in the
amount of $37,600.00 to the Historical Society of the Somerset Hills. The award was presented to the
Historical Society of the Somerset Hills at a Somerset County Chosen Freeholders meeting on
September 10, 2013.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Township Committee of the Township of Bernards,
that it does hereby accept the grant award from Somerset Cultural and Heritage Commission for a
Historic Preservation Grant to be used to fund the Replacement of the Cedar-Shake Roof and flashings
on the Historic Brick Academy Building in Basking Ridge and to fabricate and install an Historic
Marker.
