Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship –
Primary Care Behavioral Health & Integrated Intensive Outpatient Program (PCBH & IIOP)
Colorado State University invites nominations and applications for a one year, full-time, 12month position as Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow with Primary Care Behavioral Health and
Integrated Intensive Outpatient Program in the CSU Health Network. The Postdoctoral
Fellowship position requires both graduation from an APA-accredited doctoral program in
Counseling or Clinical Psychology and completion of an APA-accredited doctoral internship.
The program is designed to meet or exceed all requirements for licensure in the state of
Colorado and is modeled to be in compliance with APPIC guidelines for postdoctoral training
sites. The position begins August 1, 2014 and concludes July 31, 2015. Fellows are currently
paid $33,949 plus a benefits package.
Site Description
The Colorado State University Health Network is an integrated mental health and medical
service serving both undergraduate and graduate students within a large land-grant university. It
is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) for the doctoral internship in
Counseling & Clinical Psychology and by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health
Care (AAAHC). The training of clinically-competent, ethical, self-aware, and culturally-sensitive
psychologists is central to our mission. Presenting issues range from the expected
developmental concerns of college students to severe mental health diagnoses, including
psychoses and personality disorders. The most common presenting concerns are: stress &
anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, eating disorders, sexual concerns, substance
abuse, and identity development. CSU has a student population of nearly 30,000 students from
every state and 90 foreign countries. General Services includes individual and couples
psychotherapy, a vibrant group therapy program, and crisis intervention services. Specialty
programs include the DAY Program (substance abuse & other addictions), Primary Care
Behavioral Health, and the iTEAM (intensive outpatient program providing integrated care to
clients experiencing an acute mental health crisis). CSUHN has a strong commitment to

Fellowship Description
The Primary Care Behavioral Health and Integrated Intensive Outpatient Program Postdoctoral
Psychology Fellowship at the CSU Health Network is designed to prepare individuals for a staff
psychologist position in a university counseling service, with particular emphasis on
psychologists wishing to work at universities which have integrated their mental health and
medical services. One focus of the fellowship is on obtaining specialized training in the area of
primary care behavioral health. The second focus includes working as part of the CSU Health
Network’s newly developed “iTEAM,” an intensive outpatient program for students who are
experiencing an acute mental health crisis. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to
consolidate traditional clinical skills in the areas of individual and group therapy, crisis
intervention (both daytime and after-hours), triage, and initial consultations (intakes).
Additionally, the fellow may participate in university-based outreach and prevention services
including advocacy and social justice interventions, and may acquire administrative and
program development skills. The Postdoctoral Fellow is involved in advanced clinical training
experiences through both supervision and participation in didactic seminars. Seminar
participation is negotiated with each fellow individually, based on training needs.
Minimum qualifications for applicants include:
1. Completion of doctoral degree by August 25, 2014 (i.e., by the first day of CSU
fall classes) from an APA-Accredited program in Counseling or Clinical
Psychology. This is defined as having either the diploma in hand or a letter from the
director of graduate studies verifying the completion of all degree requirements
pending institution graduation ceremony.
2. Applicant must be available to begin full-time employment August 1, 2014 to
complete intensive 3 week orientation and training.
3. Completion of APA-accredited doctoral internship by August 25, 2014. Applicants
who will finish their internship after August 1 must negotiate leave time with their
internship training director in order to be able to attend our three week orientation
and training period, from August 1-22.
Preferred qualifications for applicants include:
1. Experience providing behavioral health services to adults in a primary care setting
2. Experience working on a multidisciplinary team (preferably including psychiatry
providers, primary care providers, and mental health providers)
3. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
4. Experience working with students in crisis e.g. suicidality, self-harming, gravely
disabled, who may or may not need psychiatric hospitalization.
5. Demonstrated competency in risk assessment, including facilitating psychiatric
hospitalization for students meeting that threshold of risk.
6. Experience working with or knowledge of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
7. Personal and/or professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent
effort, active planning, allocation of resources and/or accountability for diversity
outcomes.
8. Professional commitment to serving high acuity students as demonstrated through
active participation, intentional professional development, reading articles/research,
and/or participating in other opportunities for further learning.

1. A cover letter stating interest in the program specifically addressing ALL minimum and
preferred qualifications;
2. A curriculum vitae;
3. An application form;
4. Letter verifying anticipated doctoral degree completion date before August 25, 2014 from
the Department Chair, Training Director, or other administrative official in your APAaccredited academic program;
5. Letter from Internship Training Director verifying an anticipated internship completion on
or before August 25, 2014. The letter should also verify that the applicant has been
cleared to attend training activities beginning August 1, 2014, if internship completion
date is not prior to August 1;
6. All graduate transcripts (unofficial versions of transcripts printed from a school’s website
are acceptable);
7. The names, phone numbers, and email addresses of three references who are familiar
with the applicant’s clinical work.
