Students will study solid state theory, operation, and testing of solid state components and devices to include diodes, thermistors, transducers, photo cells, transistors, SCR’s, diac, triac, SS relays, and photoelectric and proximity controls. Prerequisites are EST 131 or instructor permission. STUDENT LEARNING ASSESSMENTS Attendance 20% Participation Quizzes 20% 20% Exams 30% Attendance is a crucial component to this course. Each student may take 2 Unexcused Absences from lecture and 1 Unexcused Absence from lab without penalty. After that, each additional Unexcused Absence in lecture or lab will result in a 2% deduction in your overall grade Actively engaging in lecture and completing all lab activities. Each WEDNESDAY a QUIZ will be given on the various electronics acronyms covered throughout the week and CANNOT be made up or retaken. Each QUIZ accounts for 2% of your overall grade. There will be two EXAMS during the quarter – 1 covering the 1st 5 weeks and the 2nd covering the last 5 weeks. Final 10% Each EXAM accounts for 15% of your overall grade. There will be 1 FINAL covering all of the electronics acronyms covered throughout the course given at the end of the quarter.
