San José MSBL Free Agent Rules and Policies
1. All SJMSBL players (on a team roster from the previous calendar year) may file for free agency between
January 1 and April 15 each year.
2. All players must notify the Board of Directors in writing (submit the free agent form) of their intentions to change
teams.
3. Players wanting to change teams must also notify their current team manager of their intentions.
4. No more than two (2) players from the same former team (previous league season) may use free agency to join
the same new league team for the current league season UNLESS the Board of Directors approves an exception
to the two player policy.
5. League teams may not acquire more than two players from any one league team (example: three Reds switching
to the Mets) without the approval of the Board of Directors. Additionally the new team must compensate the
former team with first round draft pick(s) as determined by the Board of Directors.
6. League teams many not acquire more than four (4) players from ALL other league teams combined without the
approval of the Board of Directors. (example: two Braves, two Red Sox and one Pirate switching to Yankees)
7. Prospective free agents are not officially on a different team roster until receiving board approval in writing.
I have read the SJMSBL Free Agent Rules and Policies, agree to abide by the terms and conditions set forth and
fully understand that this is only a request to change teams. I realize that approval from the Board of Directors is
required before I may join a different league team.
