They analyse and report on visa caseload and malpractice and contribute to the knowledge and understanding of integrity risks in the Americas region. The LEIO is responsible for maintaining an information database for the purposes of monitoring, analysing and reporting on integrity risks and trends in the visa caseload and assisting the Post maintain and develop networks with key stakeholders to support integrity within visa processing. They manage a high volume workload with limited supervision including the referrals caseload and contribute to training staff on integrity issues. The LEIO reports directly to the Second Secretary (Immigration) Brasilia and may be required to travel and/or attend work out of regular hours. Duty Statement 1. Develop and maintain systems to monitor unusual trends and developments in visa caseloads and provide regular reporting on integrity activity, performance and caseload trends. 2. Conduct regular caseload sampling, testing and quality audits to build profiles and other information products to enable staff to target cases of concern and develop and implement improvements in caseload management processes and procedures. 3. Identify and investigate integrity concerns involving ad hoc and organised migration which may include liaison with other Posts, embassies and security agencies where relevant and appropriate. 4. Support operational staff by providing ongoing integrity support and advice and to ensure that the full range of integrity tools are being used effectively in accordance with agreed standards. 5. Provide integrity support to onshore processing centres by managing referrals and related tasking including the development of environmental information as appropriate. 6. Contribute to the identification of training needs and deliver training in relation to integrity to staff. This includes identifying existing training material, or in collaboration with colleagues developing new training material as required. 7. Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of a network of contacts and information sources to access information on developments, trends and issues related to visa fraud and malpractice. This can include contacts within organisations such as banks, education institutions and licensing bodies to assist in document verification. Selection Criteria Essential 1. A strong understanding of compliance issues impacting on a Visa Office. 2. Ability to undertake complex research and analytical tasks. 3. Capacity to record and manipulate data and generate reports. 4. Ability to carry out investigations of low to moderate complexity. 5. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills in English and Portuguese and proficiency in report writing. 6. Strong liaison, representational and interpersonal skills, including an ability to contribute effectively as a member of a team. 7. High level organisational skills, including the ability to direct efforts to areas of greatest potential return. 8. Ability to confidently and effectively deliver training. Desirable 9.
