Lead Name Peter Allmark Summary of Project/Event Aims To develop an evidence-based research synthesis of barriers and facilitators to people calling for early and appropriate professional help following onset of symptoms that could be due to MI. This will provide a greater understanding of how interventions may or may not be effective, providing key knowledge to underpin future research in the area. Summary of Work Involved Article for publication written based on the literature review but not containing realist synthesis. Outline research proposal using MINAP data and liaison with another service, probably Yorkshire Ambulance Trust. Key Outcomes Research proposal with Yorkshire Ambulance Trust. Approximate title: Why patients with acute MI delay calling for professional help: an analysis of MINAP data combined with prospective ambulance data. Deadline May 2012. Going Forward A non-interventional study to look at causes of cardiac delay followed by an interventional one to address these. What Has Been Gained from the Project/Event? Yorkshire Ambulance Trust may become new partner in venture Links with CLAHRC will be maintained. The ability to develop this project from the initial literature review and to develop new contacts for future work.
