Aim: to assure Ss accommodation to the English class

ACTIVITY 2: Consolidating previous knowledge
Aim: to check homework – the ability of correctly using the ordinal numbers, days of the week,
months of the year
Procedure:
1. Students read the sentences they’ve made and correct their mistakes

ACTIVITY 3: Change places if you ...
Aim: consolidate student’s usage of must and mustn’t
Procedure:
1. T writes the title of the new lesson on the blackboard and the Ss write it in their
notebooks
2. T shows the students’ a set of card with classroom rules and they say what those rules
are;
3. T asks students to change their places if the sentence said by the teacher is true (eg. We
mustn’t chew gum in class)
4. Ss are divided into groups: an orange group, a yellow group and a green group.
5. First round of the contest:
 Write funny five funny rules for school;

ACTIVITY 4: Which one is cleverer …
Aim: to consolidate the usage of comparative forms
Procedure:
1. Ss are divided into groups: an orange group, a yellow group and a green group.
2. Second round of the contest:
 They are given handouts with names of animals and they have to build correct
sentences about them (eg. Elephants/monkeys/ big – Elephants are bigger than
monkeys)
 Each correct (90% correct) sentence is worth one point for the group, each wrong
sentence end up in the bin.
3. Third round of the contest:
 Each group will be given slips of paper with singular nouns and they have to write
their plural forms.
 Each correct form will be rewarded with 1 point for the team.

Aim: to provide extra practice in
Procedure:
1. Ss open their books and do exercise 9 on page 56
2. T explains the task – time limit 7 min
3. Everybody takes a red pen and checks to see if they did the exercise correctly

1. The task: Write about an animal – use exercise 9 as a model – write about where they
live, what they eat, how much they live.
