Spanish–Level 1AB Course Description This course stresses the use of Spanish in culturally authentic situations. The emphasis is on communication and focuses on the communicative functions that young people need: exchanging information, giving commands, expressing emotions, and opinions, inquiring, apologising, paying compliments and inviting. The present tense of regular and irregular verbs, simple grammar usage and the basic guidelines of pronunciation are studied. Students are introduced to the cultures of Spanish speaking countries through films and projects. The course covers the 1uno textbook and requires a comprehensive exam at the end of each semester.
