Notes for trainers using the Ground Floor Training Room (TRG) **The training rooms are not to be used for meetings or 1-2-1 training sessions. If you require training space for a 1-2-1 session, you should use the First Floor Meeting Room. You can book this resource through the IT Admin Team (service-desk@bristol.ac.uk) ** Training room web pages Information about finding, booking and using the IT Services training rooms is available at https://www.bris.ac.uk/it-services/locations/training-rooms/ Before the course: Check the list of software installed in the IT training rooms on the training room web pages (above). If the software you require is not listed, we cannot undertake to install new software or a different version for a particular event. If delegates need instructions on locating the training room, send them a link to the training room web pages (above). If the trainer and/or any of the delegates are external, they will require a UoB login to be able to use the PCs in the training room. To request a guest UoB login, contact the Service Desk (service-desk@bristol.ac.uk) at least 3 days before you require the login. Please ensure that all delegates and trainers have a University UCard. We cannot let anyone in to the building who does not have a UCard. For information about getting a UCard, please see Card Services: http://www.bristol.ac.uk/cardservices/ If you require refreshments, they can be arranged through the Hawthorns (0117 9545513). Please note that you cannot have refreshments delivered to the training rooms, they must be delivered to the downstairs kitchen. On the day: Fire procedures If you hear the fire alarm, you should exit the building immediately. Our fire alarm is regularly tested every week. This happens on Thursdays around 11.00am. All our fire exits are signposted. The main exit is through the main entrance to the training room, out towards the reception area of the Computer Centre, and through the building’s front entrance. An alternative exit is through the fire door at the trainer’s end of the training room, which leads to a corridor and emergency push-bar exit. The fire assembly point is at the front of the Sports Centre building. Disabled building users. Be sure to give prior consideration to the accessibility requirements of disabled building users and their evacuation procedures in an emergency situation. When arranging events please ask attendees as far in advance as possible if they have any particular support or accessibility requirements. If you August 2015 are aware that a delegate will need additional support, please inform IT Admin Team (service-desk@bristol.ac.uk) at least 3 working days in advance of the event. Toilets To find the men’s toilets, go through the double doors as if you were going to the reception area. The toilets will be on your right. To find the women’s toilets, go down the corridor next to the training room. The toilets will be on your left. Using the PCs Windows 7 is installed. The quickest way to find software that does not have a shortcut is to open the Start menu and type a couple of letters in the search box. Trainers and delegates should log in to PCs using their own UoB login. UoB users are automatically be given access to their O: drive on which they can store files. When you have finished, log off from the PCs (Start -> log out). You cannot shut down the PCs, but the logged-off PCs and monitors soon go into power-saving sleep. Please note that some web-based corporate systems will not work in 32-bit Internet Explorer (which is the Windows 7 default), so be sure to start the 64-bit version. Technical problems/support If you have any technical problems, you can report them to the Service Desk (located just left of the training room, opposite the public access computer room). We cannot offer a callout support service. If you report a problem there is no guarantee that your problem will be dealt with straight away. Access requirements There is one height-adjustable desk available in the training room. Instructions on how to use the desk can be found on a laminated wall poster by the desk. Any other access equipment can be found in the cupboard next to the door (e.g. back rests, footrests, etc.) Food and drinks No food and drink are to be consumed inside the training room except for water. Refreshments and food breaks can be held in the common room just outside of the training room. This area only seats 12 so you should check that the trainer using the First Floor Training Room (TRF) isn’t planning to use the area at the same time. Drinking water is available from the taps in the kitchen (located down the main staircase and straight on through the doors. The kitchen will be on the left). There are water jugs available to use. Drinking water can also be obtained from the water fountain (located at the bottom of the stairs/reception area). Any food deliveries (e.g. from the Hawthorns) should be made to the kitchen on the ground floor and consumed in the common room outside TRG. August 2015 When you are finished, please tidy up after yourself and leave trays in the kitchen ready for collection. Please leave the room as you found it! August 2015
