IE3 Global Internships
Applications are open now for one and two term internships for
spring, summer, or fall 2016. CWU students can earn 1-12 credits
while gaining professional experience abroad. For more information

January 25th for Summer 2016, and April 15th for Fall 2016.
Some popular placements for biology majors include:
Center for Social Medicine – India
Community health and clinical observations in Loni. Rotations can be
tailored to students’ interests. Great for those interested in public
health, pre-med, nursing, dentistry, community health education, and
rural development. 10 weeks, no language requirements.
CFHI: Pediatric Health – Bolivia
Clinical observations focused on maternal and child health in La Paz
and the surrounding communities, predominantly working with
indigenous populations. 10 weeks, intermediate Spanish
recommended. Other CFHI options in Latin America include Mexico,
Ecuador, and Argentina.
CFHI South Africa: Cape Town and Durban – South Africa
Clinical observations focused in community clinics in Cape Town and
around HIV/AIDS healthcare issues in Durban. 10 weeks, no language
requirements. Other CFHI options in Africa and Asia include: Uganda,
Ghana, and India.
Equilibrio Azul – Ecuador
Data collection, monitoring, interviewing, and outreach opportunities
within coastal and fishery projects near Puerto Lopez. Projects may
include work with: sea turtles, sharks, fisheries, marine bird, whales,
manta rays, and local communities. 10-12 weeks minimum, basic
Spanish recommended.
Esther Honey Foundation – Cook Islands
Hands-on experience in a non-profit veterinary clinic on the island of
Rarotonga. Assist veterinarians and a team of dedicated volunteers in
the clinic and community to support, care for, and treat dogs, cats,
and other domestic animals. 10-12 weeks minimum, no language
requirements.
Highland Farm Gibbon Sanctuary – Thailand
Opportunities for research and self-directed projects related to
gibbons, education, conservation, environmental issues, and more.
Interns will support all activities at the privately-run sanctuary in rural
Thailand. 10 weeks minimum, no language requirements.
Neiker-Tecnalia: Department of Animal Health – Spain
Support work on scientific publications in biology, veterinary sciences,
animal husbandry, disease, and other research topics in Spanish and
English. Work is in Bilbao at the Basque Institute for Agricultural
Research and Development. 12 weeks minimum (6 months preferred),
start dates available in winter/spring/fall, 3rd or 4th year Spanish
preferred.
Scottish Seabird Centre – Scotland
Individualized opportunities in education, website development and
technology, marketing and eco-tourism, and more at a popular yearround facility promoting appreciation and care for wildlife and the
environment near Edinburgh. 10 weeks minimum, no language
requirements.
