LONDON January 27th 2013 – The British Film Designers Guild held its annual AGM and third year of awards at Pinewood
Studios in Buckinghamshire.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT
AWARDED TO – PRODUCTION DESIGNER - Peter Lamont
Peter has worked on some of the most iconic and well known films of all time such as “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” ,
“Fiddler on the Roof”, “Aliens”, nine of the James Bond films including “Goldeneye” and “Licence to Kill”, and of
course “Titanic”. His work has been admired by millions of people and his contribution, skills and artistic abilities are a
high benchmark for the next generation of production designers to reach.

BEST PRODUCTION
AWARDED TO - PRODUCTION DESIGNER - Simon Bowles for the film “Hyde Park on Hudson” (currently in cinemas)
“Hyde Park on Hudson” was chosen for recreating perfectly authentic and evocative 1930s upstate New York entirely
in the UK.
Simon has worked on a number of very successful and well known feature films, TV series and films for television such
as “Foyle’s War”, “The Deep”, “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” and “The Descent” and upcoming period feature “Belle”.

SPOTLIGHTING TALENT
AWARDED TO – DRAUGHTSMAN - Darren Tubby
This is awarded to highlight an individual who has shown promise to develop into a key creative member in the British
film industry.
Darren won this for his work on the TV series “Kingdom” and feature films such as “Ironclad”, “Nanny McPhee” and
“Children of Men”. Most recently he worked as the Production Designer on two smaller feature films “I know What I
Am Doing” and “Heckle”.
Awards go to current BFDG members and are voted for by the BFDG committee.

About the BFDG:
The society of British Film Directors and Designers was founded in 1946, for the betterment of Design in
British Films. Out of this society grew the Guild of Film Art Directors, and the present British Film
Designers Guild, who now include in their membership all the various branches of the Art Department
along with Costume Designers. We are not a trade union.
The British Film Designers Guild has members in every grade of the art department, from
draughtspersons to costume designers, set decorators to production designers, and was formed with the
aim of raising the standards and the profile of the art department and protecting the interest of its members.
