Post Objectives
To support the work of Prince Bishops Community Bank empowering people to improve
their financial capability and inclusion through encouraging a culture of saving and good
money management by:






Working with the CEO and staff to develop an updated range of products and
services to appeal to the current and a much wider customer base. Prioritising
activities and products and matching these to appropriate locations for action.
Market a range of competitive savings and personal finance products to current
customers and external individuals and organisations, throughout the Common Bond
area.
Broaden the membership base of the Community Bank through these activities but
also through a programme of actively marketing to businesses, housing associations,
schools, churches (all faiths) and retailers.
Work with local County Durham businesses to attract new members through the
introduction of salary deduction schemes. Bearing in mind that the Common Bond
area of the credit union will be increasing and therefore the locality will also.
Work with mainstream providers to establish insurance products and basic banking
for low-income households to broaden the appeal of membership to the Community
Bank.
Promote the benefit of credit union membership; explain the model and the range of
supportive services to a wide range of audiences with emphasis on savings and
affordable loans. You will be required to be comfortable speaking to small and large
audiences to achieve this.

Extend access to affordable financial services to local people; encouraging them to
become members and to use affordable credit lines rather than high-cost alternatives

Develop payroll deduction schemes with local employers

Sourcing and applying for further funding to establish the post for a longer period of
time.

Developing good relationships with businesses, community organisations, and other
stakeholders, working in a flexible and constructive manner to deliver this project

Work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver a high quality service

Reporting on progress, successes and challenges in the form of written reports and
presentations.

Communicate and report effectively regarding the project; needs, progress,
successes and challenges, to the appropriate bodies and various audiences.

Build appropriate links with businesses, partners, and stakeholders to ensure
success.

Ensure PR and Marketing of the project is undertaken appropriately, working with
businesses, community groups and other partners and stakeholders to provide
positive messages from this and have the widest impact,.

Maintain monitoring and evaluation systems

Encourage and support good money management

Encourage a culture of saving for goods rather than using credit

Assisting the CEO in planning development work across the team and sourcing
external funding.

Maintaining records in connection with the project that will be used to support the
monitoring of the project for funders.

Support the CEO and Directors to achieve targets in the Business Plan

Manage a limited budget for this project.



The post holder must have their own transport or access to personal transport as
they will be required at times to visit locations that do not have (or has very
infrequent) bus service. A casual car user allowance is payable with this post.
The Financial Products Salesperson will be expected to share knowledge and skills and to
support the Directors in encouraging staff and volunteers to adhere to good practices
within Prince Bishops Community Bank.
