Dear Room 208 Parents, Happy Tuesday! Hope you had a great three-day weekend! BIOGRAPHY PRESENTATION USING KEYNOTE Last week, I briefly introduced to the students a new project that we will be working on both at home, and in class. The students selected a biography of a well-known person (either deceased or still alive) to read over the next few weeks. As students read, they will take notes about their biography. This will help them organize as they prepare a keynote presentation and a speech about their famous person (NO they will NOT dress up). The packet to take notes on was handed out Friday. I reviewed it today with the students. Students should keep the packet in their Language Arts or Reading section of their Homework Binder as they fill it out. Then, in class I will help them start a keynote presentation (on their i-pads). They will also present their keynote. They will require practicing at school and at home for that presentation. The purpose of this project is to encourage students to read non-fiction books, create a keynote and deliver a presentation using keynote and good oral speaking skills. Many students have already selected their biography book, either from the school or our class library. Some may also choose to pick a book from the public library. Here is the timeline of due dates. This info will also be posted on the class website. Biography Project - Due Dates: Tuesday, 1/20: o Show the teacher the selected biography book Monday, 2/23: o Finish reading biography AND turn in completed notes packet Monday, 3/2: o Keynote completed and oral presentation cards due we will work on the presentation in class, beginning on Monday, 2/23 (for about 20 minutes a day) students will also work on this at home during the week to supplement our in-class work Wednesday, 3/4: o Students will give the presentations during this week o Selection of presentation dates will occur Tuesday, 3/3 Please let me know if you have any questions.
