Curriculum Guide for Applied Psychology Majors (PSYA)
Bachelor of Arts
PSYA
updated 05/15
The School of Psychological Sciences offers two undergraduate majors in psychology. The Applied Psychology Major
(PSYA) and the Psychology Major (PSYC). The PSYC major is designed for students who plan on attending graduate school, in
particular in an area related to psychology, immediately upon completing their degree; whereas, the PSYA is designed for students
who are planning on entering the workforce upon degree completion or who would like to combine the PSYA degree with another
area of study at UIndy.
The following is a suggested sequence of courses; transfer students or those changing majors may find it necessary to deviate
from this suggested sequence. Pre-Physical Therapy and Pre-Occupational Therapy students should refer to pre-professional program
curriculum guides for additional requirements or substitutions (Pre-Physical Therapy and Pre-Occupational Therapy students are
encouraged to select the PSYC degree, and not the PSYA). Please note that PSY 124, 125, and 165 are recommended prerequisites for
the Psychology Core Requirements.
