7. Justification for course change.
PSY 355 is an upper-division depth course for psychology majors. Majors are already required to
have a “C” or better in all psychology courses. This change will prevent students from taking this
depth course without meeting the required grade for the prerequisites prior to registration. Students
are currently able to register for this course with a grade lower than a C for any prerequisites and then
retake the prerequisites after completing the depth course in order to attempt to get a C for
graduation requirements. The sequencing of courses for the psychology major has been carefully
structured to ensure that students have the required foundation for success in upper-division courses.
The proposed change is intended to prevent students from taking upper-division depth courses
without the adequate background.
