Curriculum Guide for Psychology Majors (PSYC)
Bachelor of Arts
PSYC
updated 05/15
The School of Psychological Sciences offers two undergraduate majors in psychology. The Psychology Major (PSYC) and
the Applied Psychology Major (PSYA). The PSYC major is designed for students who plan on attending graduate school, in particular
in an area related to psychology, immediately upon completing their degree; whereas, the PSYA is designed for students who are
planning on entering the workforce upon degree completion or who would like to combine the PSYA degree with another area of
study at UIndy. Psychology majors have the option to enhance their studies by completing the Clinical & Counseling Studies
concentration. This concentration is strongly encouraged for students considering graduate school or professional experiences related
to mental health.
The following is a suggested sequence of courses; transfer students or those changing majors may find it necessary to deviate
from this suggested sequence. Pre-Physical Therapy and Pre-Occupational Therapy students should refer to pre-professional program
curriculum guides for additional requirements or substitutions. Please note that PSY 124, 125, and 165 are recommended prerequisites
for the 200-level courses and required for the 300 and 400-level courses.
