Waste Processing –industrial waste treatment, hazardous wastes and
landfill disposal.
We operate over 200 facilities in England, Scotland and Wales and employ
around 2,500 employees. We recycle 1.2 million tonnes of waste each year.

Role Purpose
The Area Manager – Re-use Shops is responsible for the day-to-day running of
the Reuse shops and ancillary retail activities in the Northern Region and is
accountable for developing profitable performance by motivating staff and
volunteers and controlling all related administration requirements.

Key Responsibilities

To work with the centralised Reuse function to develop the business to it
maximum potential.

To manage the P&L for the reuse business including the development of
the business in order to deliver the budgeted revenue.

To ensure that the facility is operated in line with all legislation including
the Sales of Goods Act and WEEE regulations.

To ensure that the reporting processes relating to the facility being a
registered AATF are followed and to ensure that evidence of WEEE reuse
is posted on the relevant bulletin board allowing FCC to receive the
monetary value for WEEE Reuse evidence.

To manage and provide day to day guidance to shop staff so as to
maximize profitability of the businesses and legislative compliance.

Inspire, motivate and lead Reuse shop managers by providing a
stimulating and supportive environment.

Meet KPI, sales, cost and profit targets and deliver growth.

Provide excellent customer service.

To work with the contract operational team to ensure that reuse capture is
maximized across all of the HWRC’s within the Region.

To develop and promote reuse auctions and internet trading sites.

Maintain excellent shop standards and comply with legal obligations.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures both personally and by all
staff.
Qualifications and Experience (preferred)

At least 5 years retail experience.

A good understanding of waste management practices.

Must have high attention to detail and be able to undertake and develop
complex administrative and reporting systems.

Qualified to A Level standard or equivalent life experience.

Must have a high level of computer literacy particularly must be skilled in
the use of Excel and Word.

Previous retail multi-site management experience.

Thorough understanding of P&L’s and financial performance indicators.

Good understanding of retail policies and procedures and IT systems.

Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to drive and motivate
performance through effective coaching skills.

Strong business acumen.

Highly organised with the ability to adapt quickly to changing
circumstances.

Full driving licence.


Commitment to delivering high levels of customer service.

Strong communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively at all levels in a capacity of adding value to
the decision making process.


Other Information
This post will be expected to work directly with the operational team on a day to
day basis whilst also working with the centralised Reuse function within FCC.
Direct reports – Operation Area Manager and dotted line to Reuse Development
Manager.
