As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs") and children (“Littles"), ages 6 through 16, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. The Coordinator position has 2 primary roles: Enrollment/Match Specialist and Match Support Specialist. The primary function of EMS is to ensure that children are appropriately enrolled and matched while executing a high degree of independent judgment when utilizing BBBS standards and practice. The primary function of the Match Support Specialist position is to provide match support to ensure child safety, positive impacts for youth, constructive and satisfying relationships between children and volunteers, and a strong sense of affiliation with BBBS on the part of volunteers. A high level of customer service throughout all roles is imperative. Essential functions: Conduct child and family enrollments including orientation, parent/child interviews, and child safety education. Conduct home visits and face to face interviews of little brother and sister applicants, parent and/or legal guardians and assess and/or refer families for additional services as needed. Recommend and advocate matching preferences while executing a high degree of independent judgment in regards to making strong and enduring matches. Provide customer service to all families within the enrollment process, including updates on status, referrals, reassessments, and identify and eliminate any barriers interfering with the completion of the enrollment process. Provide ongoing comprehensive assessments and match recommendations for child participants while advocating for a match rich in factors contributing to a successful relationship. Facilitate match meetings and provide ongoing coaching to the match relationship. Real and/or potential problems and barriers are identified, addressed and resolved as early as possible. Match support is provided on a frequency according to BBBS Standards, at a minimum. Assess and provide for individual training needs, information and support needs for each match participant to assure a positive youth development experience for the child, and successful and satisfying experience for the volunteer. Ensure high-level expertise in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures throughout all aspects of job function. Develop strategic interventions to identify and strengthen match relationships that require extra support to continue to grow. Work holistically with the entire BBBS team to promote philanthropy and mission driven goals. Participate in agency events and promote BBBS throughout the community. To ensure quality services and measurable outcomes, maintain accurate and timely records for each match according to standards and utilize technology to report, synthesize and analyze data. Requirements: Minimum Bachelors degree in social services, human resources or related field preferred. Must be bilingual- Spanish speaking proficiency. Previous work experience in relationship development; interviewing and assessments; child and adult populations; understanding of child development and family dynamics. Must have car, valid driver’s license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.
