Citations of BIC Databases This guide will show you how to cite sources from the commercial databases available from the BIC website. All citations in this guide appear in the APA Citation Style format. The guide in no way preempts a faculty member’s citation style preferences! Always make certain that the citation style you are using is acceptable to your instructor. These are general guidelines that include some specific examples from each database. For additional examples of how to cite online and other sources, please consult the latest Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition, which is available in the BIC Reference Collection. You may also consult the APA Style website, which is at www.apastyle.org. There are also various third-party citation style websites and resources listed on the Citing Sources page of the BIC website. When including a web address in your citations, always use one that has the Notre Dame proxy server information in the web address (proxy.library.nd.edu), so that other Notre Dame researchers will be able to find the online information. Please note that some databases do provide citations that you can copy and paste into your paper. Feel free to use them, but always double-check to make sure they have all the information you need, and that the formatting is correct. You may have to edit the citation after you copy and paste. The citation style guide begins with examples from all the databases listed on the BIC home page.
