And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid. And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. GOSPEL: (Mark 15:43-16:8 ) Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead. And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre SUNDAY FRIDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY May 19 May 24 May 26 June 02 Divine Liturgy at 10:30.a.m. Divine Liturgy 8:00 AMDivine Liturgy at 10:30.a.m. Divine Liturgy at 10:30.a.m. ICE CREAM PARTY AT 12:00 NOON HUMANITARIAN PICNIC FOR HEART TRANSPLANT FOR TIJANA OGNJANOVIC MONDAY June 03 SUNDAY THURSDAY June 09 June 13 SUNDAY SUNDAY June 16 June 23 FRIDAJ June 28 Sts.Constantine and Helen Divine Liturgy at 08:00.a.m. Divine Liturgy at 10:30.a.m. The Ascension of Jesus Christ Divine Liturgy at 08:00.a.m. Divine Liturgy at 10:30.a.m. PENTECOST Divine Liturgy at 10:30.a.m. Divine Liturgy at 8:00.a.m. SUNDAY June 30 Divine Liturgy at 10:30.a.m. TODAY: Today, our church celebrates its Patron Saint of Saint George. Sunday is a day that should be given to the Lord and the Church with our participations at the Holy Liturgy St. George Serbian Orthodox Church WEEKLY BULLETIN May 19, 2013 Stewardship Reflection CHRIST IS RISEN! INDEED HE IS RISEN! The Sunday of The Myrrh-Bearing Women May 19, 2013 We pray that you had a blessed Great Lent and a glorious Pascha celebration with your families and friends. Reflecting on the Scriptures from Bright Tuesday, we read that "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved" Acts 2:21 Prayer is a very beneficial way to ask God to help and guide us during any difficult times that we face. We also should remember to thank God for all that he provides as well. St. John Chrysostom's homily for Bright Tuesday also reflects on the fact that all of those who are faithful and call on God will be saved whether they are a priest, a slave, a poor person, an individual who works two jobs, a wealthy executive or someone that is homeless..... we will be judged according to our deeds, the work that we do and our words. It's not who we are as much as it is what we do and how we act. This is why we are asked and guided in the Scriptures to give freely of our Time, Talents and Treasures. As we prepare for Christ's Ascension during the next 40 days, greet all of the Orthodox faithful with "Christ Is Risen" and please remember to help our parish any way that you can. With the summer months (and vacations) right around the corner, this is typically a time where the parish has it's greatest need. Please ask any of the priests, the Stewardship committee or executive board members how you can help. Fill out the "STEWARDSHIP" form for 2013. Please give your time and talents!
