Autodesk® Revit® Structure: Best Practices for Coordination with Architects and Other Disciplines Allen Levy – CADD Microsystems, Inc. SE3349-R Having trouble figuring out the best way to coordinate your Autodesk Revit Structure project with the architect's Autodesk® Revit® Architecture project? Are you using the collaboration tools within Revit Structure software efficiently and to their full potential? Do you find yourself opening two sessions of Revit Structure to work on your project while viewing the architect's model as a reference? If you have these doubts and questions about your current workflow process for coordinating Revit Structure with other disciplines, then this roundtable session is for you. Discover best practices when linking a Revit Architecture project into your Revit Structure project, using the Copy/Monitor tools, and performing coordination reviews and interference checks. Also learn techniques for preparing the architect's model before linking, setting up reference and coordination views, and troubleshooting model inconsistencies. Learning these methods will help keep your Revit Structure projects in harmony with other disciplines. Learning Objectives At the end of this class, you will be able to: Use best practices for setting up a Revit Structure project when linking in other Revit projects Use the Copy/Monitor tool effectively to coordinate a Revit Structure project with the architect's model Create reference and coordination views based on a linked Revit project Incorporate coordination review and interference checking into your collaboration workflow About the Speaker Allen has been using Autodesk products since AutoCAD version 2.6 in 1987. While attending the University of Maryland, he worked as a Structural Designer for a Structural Engineering Consulting firm. Allen.Levy@CADDMicrosystems.com Autodesk® Revit® Structure: Best Practices for Coordination with Architects and Other Disciplines This is a Roundtable discussion where we will discuss topics related to Best Practices for Coordination with Architects and other Disciplines. There are tools within Revit to facilitate this. Which of these tools work for you? We will seek to understand these methods and tools during this Roundtable discussion. We will be discussing the following topics: Five Topics of Discussion Best practices for linking other Revit projects (Architectural, MEP) into Revit Structure projects Using the Copy/Monitor tools Creating reference views and coordination views Leveraging Interference checks and Coordination Review during the project Real-World experiences with collaborating with Architects The goal of this session is to share experiences, come up with tips, ideas, and action items that can serve as a take-away to help you with future projects when collaborating with other disciplines. Summary & Recording I will be taking down helpful information during the discussion on flip charts. I will also be digitally recording the session. After the session, I will prepare a written summary of the discussion, so check back on the Autodesk University website to download the results. I will also see if I can upload an mp3 file of the digital recording. See you Thursday, November 29th at 1:00 pm and be prepared to share your knowledge! 2
