Anubis House is a building dating from the 1900s. Currently it is a
home for nine young people under the watch of the boarding school's
strict and scary caretaker, Victor Rodenmaar Jr. As an American girl
named Nina Martin moves into Anubis House in England, another
resident named Joy Mercer suddenly disappears without a warning.
The school staff eliminates all trace of Joy's existence from the school.
Joy's best friend, Patricia Williamson is worried about Joy’s
disappearing and accuses Nina of this.
Some of the housemates support Nina. She makes friends with
Amber Millington, Mara Jaffray and Fabian Rutter. Amber is a pretty
girl who is crazy about her appearance. Mara is a nerd, but she is not
just it: she's got the brains and the beauty. Fabian is clever and brave,
and he is in love with Nina.
Alfie Lewis and Jerome Clarke are two mindless boys. They always
have fun and tease the others. Mick Campbell is the most popular boy
at school. He is a boyfriend of Amber’s.
Trudy Rehmann is their housemother. She is a very kind and
caring soul. She helps everyone despite all the Victor’s rules.
