Friday May 31, 2014 Peter, On behalf of our students and my fellow teachers I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your incredible generosity sponsoring our trip to France in March 2014. I had the opportunity to make this trip in 2007 and have since taken students to three other European countries. The battlefield tour for me left lasting memories and because of its importance, we felt we needed to do it again. Your donation will make it easier for students to offset the cost of this important trip which they are so excited about already. Part of the application process requires students to reflect on the impact of the trip. “It would be a dream come true learning about French culture, history and people”, said Leah Dallaire, “As well, regarding Amsterdam, my mom’s side of the family is from the Netherlands”. Many stated they will feel a connection to the young men and women who served in both wars. “I will have a greater understanding of the sacrifice many made for our freedom today, and an amazing experience I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life”, said Kenzie Bonnett. Chelsey McQuiggan echoed a similar sentiment, “I expect to gain a more heartfelt respect and appreciation for those individuals who risked or lost their lives for their countries. Additionally, I believe this trip will inspire me to travel more in the future”. Shelby Campbell has personal interests, “I expect to gain a stronger and more personal appreciation of the men who fought in the battles. I also hope to gain a greater understanding of where my great-grandfather fought during WWII. Several students feel it will enhance their learning now and in the future, “It is a way of learning outside the classroom and seeing it in real life” wrote Maddy Hardy. Chris Vanderhyden sees it as a way to help in the future, “I believe it will benefit not only my school experience, but also my choice of education in the future”. There are many reasons for taking a trip like this and after reading all 44 applications it has confirmed for us more than ever what a great group of students we are travelling with. As we promote the trip in the public, we will be sure to promote Sikorski Sausages as well. Your logo will be a reminder to students and the public of your involvement on the trip T-shirt we create as well as at any events where the product is sold. Thanks again for being a part of this amazing trip. Sincerely, Norm Dinner St. Joseph’s Catholic High School
