Family History Needed!
This notebook is to help you organize history on your
family. I am writing biographical profiles of each person
in our family to put together in a book and also scan on
the computer so you can all have copies to share with
the younger generations. The more we know, the better.
Please work together as a family to locate information
and pictures to help us remember the generations to
come.
What goes in the notebook?
Anything and everything you know about this person
along with pictures you might have. I will copy and return
pictures.
Important dates and events should be noted along with
stories you have heard or know first- hand about these
people.
I would like you to focus on the 2 people listed on the
front of the binder and then look at the list of ancestors
and have fun jotting down notes or stories about them.
Your help is so important! Thanks in advance!
A Biographical Profile might include:
Early Life
When and where were they born.
What do you know about their parents, grandparents, greatgrandparents?
What was life like for them as they grew up?
Marriage
If they married, when and who did they marry?
What information do you have about their courtship, marriage,
etc.
Where did they live?
Any children?
Farm Life
Later Life
Where did they live in their later years.
Information about their death- cause of death, date, where
buried, etc.
Other
What were their skills, special talents, etc?
Nicknames? Pets?
Stories and Memories
Our memories are the best way of remembering family
and making them real as we read about them in the
generations to come.
As you think of stories and memories of these people,
please take the time to jot them down in the binder or
tape record them with other family members.
We will also be doing oral recordings using tape
recorders. We will be setting up times to meet with you
to help get these done. So much is learned first- hand
when a family starts talking about what they remember.
Again….we are all so busy, so keep these notebook
beside your chair or bed to write in as thoughts come to

I will be collecting this binder around July 15th so I can
copy , type or scan all the things you have gathered
together about your family. There is no right or wrong
way for doing this. The important thing is not to put it off
and to have shared what only you can share.
