POSITION VACANT
Accounts & Property Assistant (PN 11205)
The Australian Embassy in Lima requires a bilingual (spoken and written English and Spanish) Accounts &
Property Assistant for a full-time position. This position requires demonstrable experience in financial
management and accounts administration and demonstrated interpersonal skills.
This is a locally engaged position which means that applicants must demonstrate they are able to work
legally in Peru. The successful applicant typically would be a resident of Peru. The Embassy cannot assist
with visas or work permits. This position is qualified as a trusted personnel position and the successful
applicant will receive a six month probation period.
Annual Base Salary
S/. 95,546.00.
Please note this salary is subject to Peruvian taxation.

Duty Statement
Finance
Assist the Accountant with the DFAT's accounting operations including:







Preparation and processing of payment documents;
Processing travel and other advances and acquittals;
Preparation of reports and monitoring of budgets;
Assisting with the completion of the End of Month return;
Issuing and following up debts and advances;
Assisting with completion of the IGV return; and
Applying Finance Management Manual and audit requirements and other directives.
Property
Assist the Office Manager to manage the Embassy's property portfolio including:







Preparing and implementing repair and maintenance programs for leased residential
properties and the Chancery;
Facilitating the location of rental properties and preparing all documents necessary to enter
into, renew and terminate a lease contract.
Processing routine customs clearances and carry out property-related procurement;
Consulting with and responding to requests from the Overseas Property Group and Services
& Property Branch staff (DFAT).
Maintain the Embassy's contingency kit and stationery supplies.
Assist officers arriving from or returning to Australia. Coordinate necessary paperwork
related to packing and shipping of household effects.
Acquiring and disposing of vehicles and routine maintenance;
1. Reporting incidences to Comcover;
2. Coordinating repair in the case of accidents;
3. Ensuring driver's log books are maintained and FBT records kept; and
4. Arranging monthly invoices for private hire or agency hire of vehicles.
Administration




Provide services to Attached Agencies under the Service Level Agreement.
Perform the duties of the Human Resources & Accounts Assistant during his/her absences.
Act as alternate Office Manager during his/her absences on leave.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date and well-organised records and documentation.
Information Technology
As the back-up Local Area Network Administrator (LANA), assist with managing DFAT's IT, cable
television and PABX systems including:




Assist with managing the Embassy's security control access system.
Assist with maintaining servers and staff accounts;
Responding to systems issues and liaising with Global Support Centre in Canberra and
Regional Technical Officers in Washington; and
Assist with maintaining the Embassy's telephone and cable television systems and local
internet including contacting service providers.
