PSYCHIATRIST POSITION: PART-TIME The Southdown Institute offers residential and outpatient treatment to clergy, vowed religious, and ordained ministers in the areas of mental health and addiction. The best of psychological science and practice is integrated with the wisdom of the Catholic spiritual tradition through the efforts of an interdisciplinary treatment team of professionals. The Southdown Institute provides comprehensive assessments, treatment and consultation for issues spanning the full-spectrum of mental health conditions. The Southdown Institute is fully accredited by Accreditation Canada. We are seeking a Psychiatrist to serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team conducting comprehensive assessments and treatment of 15-20 residential clients. The position requires a commitment of approximately 16 hours a week. The staff psychiatrist provides the interdisciplinary team with pertinent information regarding the client’s psychiatric care and implications for the clinical program as well as recommendations for further care to physicians responsible for ongoing treatment following discharge. Pharmacologic management during the client’s residential stay forms a significant component of the position as well as participation in several weekly team reviews in which client progress and treatment planning are discussed. The successful candidate must have licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Computer literacy is essential for purposes of electronic charting, particularly the ability to use Microsoft Office.
