Kiefer Sam has come a long way since his liver transplant when he was just 8 months old. Today, he
dreams of becoming a racecar driver when he grows up.
His mom, Katie, still remembers how she felt when she heard a liver was available for Kiefer. "The only
thing I could do at that moment was cry – knowing that someone had to make the decision for their
child to donate their liver to Kiefer."
Please consider joining the organ, tissue and eye registry through BloodCenter of Wisconsin. To learn
more about Kiefer and joining the registry visit: http://www.bcw.edu/bcw/BCWImpact/index.htm?str=IMPACT_KIEFER

It's Donate Life Month and we're highlighting stories of organ donation with BloodCenter of Wisconsin.
Dominique Johnson was just 21 when he found out he needed a new heart. He told his parents, "I need
you to follow my lead. I want this. I am not scared."
A few months later, Dominique was given a second chance at life when he received a heart transplant.
Today he is focused on his dream of playing college basketball.

African-Americans are the largest group of minorities in need of organ transplants. Our high rates of
