JOB SUMMARY:
The Administrative Director is responsible for providing leadership and direction, as well
as for the daily operations of the renal, liver and pancreatic, and cardiac transplantation
services, including heart failure and liver disease, to ensure the delivery of high quality,
cost effective patient care. The Director is responsible for achieving outcomes consistent
with the organizational mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of hospital.
The Director must maintain professional competency in the application of the
principles of management, promote a safe environment, and perform all related job
responsibilities in a safe manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Consults with Clinical Program Directors and the Administrative Vice President
in the development, implementation and administration of policies and procedures
to achieve short and long range goals and objectives for all programs.
2. Develops and secures the approval of the annual operating personnel and capital
budgets. Monitors and explains variances for monthly responsibility reports.
3. Interviews, hires, counsels, evaluates, and recommends termination of assigned
personnel.
4. Develops and implements transplant programs by:
-advising the hospital on program changes.
-benchmarking programs with national standards.
-working with physicians associated with the program to establish protocols.
-coordinating the implementation and evaluation of special procedures and testing with other
departments.
-tracking and evaluating reimbursement information.
-monitoring programs to ensure successful implementation and recommend modifications as required.
5. Develops and coordinates the implementation of marketing plans to meet goals
and objectives of the transplant programs. Develops brochures and written
materials, coordinates the development of displays and exhibits, and attends
conventions and conferences to market programs.
6. Design and implements quality improvement programs. Ensures that assigned
departments are in compliance with accrediting regulatory agency standards,
policies, and procedures defined by hospital. Ensures
departmental adherence to regulations governing End Stage Renal Disease, Liver
Transplantation, and Cardiac Transplantation Medicare certification. Coordinates
on-site surveys for continued certification.
7. Identifies educational needs of departments supporting the transplant programs
and recommends, provides, and/or facilitates in-service programs to increase
awareness of transplant programs, policies, procedures and other pertinent
information.
8. Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians,
departments, community organizations, and other health care facilities in order to
gather and exchange information, develop and implement solutions to problems,
and ensure growth and the programs.
9. Serves as liaison with professional and community organizations by serving on
boards and committees, attending meetings, making presentations, and
participating in other activities as required.
10. Ensures consistent and accurate documentation of programs and patient data
between hospital and external organizations involved in the transplant network (i.e.,UNOS and OPO.)
11. Directs activities related to research projects by:
-identifying and reviewing recommendations for research projects.
-participating in developing funding for projects.
-developing and monitoring budgets.
-coordinating the implementation of projects.
-coordinating with external parties involved in clinical trials on campus.
-coordinating with the Institutional Review Board on approval, review and oversight of clinical research.
12. Designs, implements and evaluates clinical and financial managed care agreements with insurance
providers for Centers of Excellence of Transplant Programs.
13. Ensures the maintenance of licensure and employee files for all the staff.
14. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient visits, medical information, other
employees, and clinical business.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Attend appropriate clinical seminars and conferences.
2. Participate in Transplant Center meetings, projects, and events.
3. Maintain involvement in professional organizations.
4. Review and maintain currency of related professional literature.
5. Perform other related duties as assigned.
6. Participates in hospital and facility committees when applicable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Mobility required. Majority of the day spent sitting. Minimal lifting (5 lbs.) of patient
charts. Stretching to file or retrieve charts or manuals.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
B.S. required. Masters Degree in Business or Healthcare administration preferred.
Minimum of five years management experience in acute care setting.
Data management experience preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication

ability to respond to age specific issues and data reflective of the patient’s status.

groups: N/AX Neonate, Infant, Child , Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric

MACHINE, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Familiar with medical equipment and tolls relative to patient care, office equipment, and
supplies.
