MIT Panhellenic Association - - - - February 17, 2014 Dear Sorority WomenWe invite you to apply to be a Panhellenic Recruitment Counselor for MIT Panhellenic’s 2014 Formal Recruitment! You qualify to be a PRC as long as you are not your chapter’s President or Recruitment Chair and have gone through recruitment from the “sister side”. PRCs are an integral part of a successful recruitment, and as such, they perform a great service to Panhellenic. PRCs provide support and personal, unbiased guidance to potential new members as they go through the recruitment process. They help PNMs find the chapter that truly fits them and, in doing so, help each chapter recruit a strong new member class united by common values. We are looking for dedicated women with the integrity to uphold the standards of all of Panhellenic, as well as represent the Panhellenic community to the rest of campus. 77 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge, MA 02139 panhel.mit.edu 2014 Executive Board Yasmin Inam Panhellenic President Hannah Barrett Executive Vice President Colleen Gabel Vice President of Recruitment Anna Grace Blatz Vice President of Recruitment Programming Audrey Sedal Vice President of Programming Siobhan Rigby Vice President of Public Relations Jenny Kim Vice President of Finance and Administration Mike Prinkey Panhellenic Advisor, Assistant Director of FSILG’s There are numerous benefits to becoming a PRC. Those who are selected will receive extensive training in such areas as leadership, counseling skills, and problem solving. In addition, PRCs gain a much greater knowledge about all of our Panhellenic chapters and about the recruitment process itself. Being a PRC is a unique opportunity to meet sisters from other sororities and form bonds with women outside of your own chapters. Most of all, being a PRC is a rewarding chance to truly impact the lives of those going through recruitment. In order to fully commit to being a PRC, a sister will need an open mind for learning and understanding others. We will expect compassion for PNMs who will need to talk through their decisions, yet objectivity and impartiality to your own chapter. PRCs will also need to plan accordingly for the time commitment of being a PRC. PRC Meetings will take place on a weekly or biweekly basis in the spring, and most importantly PRCs must be available during CPW, Orientation and the period of Formal Recruitment. During CPW, PRCs are expected to disaffiliate and to move out of their sorority houses or housing with affiliated women. They may remain in their houses for the duration of formal recruitment. Throughout both periods of time, PRCs must conceal their affiliation and may not participate in work week and pre-recruitment preparation. However, positive Panhellenic contact with all chapters will be encouraged throughout CPW and the orientation period. Furthermore, we would like to encourage all those interested in being FPOP and Orientation leaders to apply to be PRCs, as training scheduling accommodations can be made in such circumstances. Being a leader in one of these activities is a great way to promote Panhel to freshmen girls when they first get on campus, and to help all potential new members get excited about the upcoming recruitment! Applications are due Sunday, March 2nd at noon and interviews will take place March 7th – March 9th. Please keep these dates open for your interview. We encourage you to speak with past PRCs from your chapters about their experience. All applications and any questions you may have should be directed to annab716@mit.edu. Once you have submitted an application, please let your Panhel Delegate know. We look forward to receiving your application!
