Name The Name of the Association shall be the 'FRIENDS OF THE LONDON SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND POLITICAL SCIENCE IN……………….' hereinafter referred to as 'FRIENDS OF LSE IN………' Article 2. Objectives The objectives of the Association, among others, shall be: To promote a beneficial relationship for academic, professional and social reasons, between the London School of Economics and Political Science (hereinafter referred to as the School) and its …………………. Alumni, friends and other interested persons. To promote, encourage and assist in effective communications between the School and FRIENDS OF LSE IN ……………... To enhance awareness of the School in ………………., raise the profile of the alumni in this community and to promote, advance and protect the academic reputation of the School. To promote any other objective and perform any other activity that is consistent with the above stated objectives and interests of the School. Article 3. Membership FRIENDS OF LSE IN ……………….. shall have three types of members: Alumnae and alumni and Honorary graduates of the School. An alumnus/a is a former student of LSE as defined in the LSE General Academic Regulations and who has completed at least one continuous term of a course of study. 1 Individuals that consider themselves friends of the London School of Economics and Political Science and are willing to promote the objectives of this Association (including external students, etc). Students currently registered on a course of study at the School. Rights of Membership: The members of the LSE AA will be entitled to: Participate in the Associations activities in ………………… and in the activities of other similar local groups of Alumni around the world. 1 A Student is defined as an individual who has registered on a course of Higher Education at the School. Therefore External Degree holders, Summer School, Language Course etc. are not counted as alumni as they do not register as students at the School. 2 CONSTITUTION TEMPLATE FOR THE USE OF LSE LOCAL GROUPS AROUND THE WORLD PREPARED BY THE LSE AA CONSTITUTION COMMITTEE LONDON, JUNE 2007 Participate in all academic and social activities organized by the Association. Article 4. Bodies of the Association The bodies of the Association shall be: The Alumni and Friends’ General Meeting The Executive Committee The Alumni and Friends General Meeting shall be the governing body of the Association. The following matters shall be discussed and decided at the Annual Ordinary General Meeting, held at least once a year: The Board’s Annual Report; Any other business to be transacted at the Annual Ordinary General Meeting proposed by the Executive Committee; Election of a new Executive Committee (every two to four years). The Executive Committee may at its discretion summon an Extraordinary General Meeting. A General Meeting forms a quorum when at least five members are present. In case of a parity of votes, the Chairman of the Association or the acting Chairman of the General Meeting shall have the casting vote. Proper summons shall be sent to the members in reasonable advance of all General Meetings. The members of the Executive Committee will be directly elected by the General Meeting. The Executive Committee shall: Be in charge of and responsible for both the day-to-day and long term operation of the Association; Be in charge of organizing the General Meeting. Article 5. Power of Signature Power of signature for the Association is exercised by the Chairman of the Association. The Executive Committee may grant Power of Attorney to the Chairman or any other one Member of the Executive Committee. Article 6.
