Finding it difficult to fit all your literacy objectives into English lessons? How can we use writing to deliver across the curriculum? Led by award-winning writer and educational consultant Alan Gibbons, the purpose of this course is to explore how the use of writing across the curriculum can enhance the delivery of many subject areas. By the end of the day, participants will: Be able to recognise and exploit opportunities to write fiction, non-fiction and poetry across the curriculum. Be prepared to produce fast-paced, scaffolded lessons that will improve children’s writing skills. Know how PSHE, RE, Geography and History can be accessed by children through creative writing approaches. Alan Gibbons has 20 years of experience as a teacher, working with KS 1, 2 and 3. Winner of the Blue Peter Book, Angus and Leicester Book Awards and twice shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal, Alan makes regular appearances on BBC television and BBC Radio 4. He has run workshops in over 2000 schools, libraries, universities and colleges and leads INSET for teachers all over the UK and abroad.
