Good Afternoon, this is Steve Mares, principal of Broughton High School with announcements for the upcoming week. A copy of these announcements will be posted on our school website and e-mailed to the Broughton email group. Please know how proud I am to be a CAP this week! Students have done an outstanding job this Spirit Week by donating money and canned food, participating in Spirit Days, float and skit preparation, and all of our other Homecoming activities we have had. We have had an excellent week at Broughton and I appreciate that our students can have a fun week and maintain a positive learning environment! I look forward to tonight’s Homecoming football game against Wakefield beginning at 7:00 p.m. Also, we will host a First Round Playoff Volleyball game tomorrow, Saturday, October 24 th, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Holliday Gym. Please come out and support our undefeated Volleyball team! Please remember that Monday, October 26 th is a Teacher Workday and there is no school for students. Please also remember that Tuesday, October 27th begins a new Quarter. Report Cards will be sent home on Friday, October 30 th, so please be expecting your student to bring it home that afternoon. Let’s encourage our students to begin the Second Quarter strong and with a fresh start committed to excellence! I wanted to inform you that on Thursday, November 5 th and Friday, November 6th, we will be hosting a Review Team for our ReAccreditation. This is an important visit and we will be involving staff, students, families, and our community in this Re-Accreditation process. Thank you for your support of our school as we undergo this review of all aspects of our school and instructional program. Our Magnet recruiting season is beginning. We are hosting tours and Open Houses in the coming weeks and look forward to showcasing the great things that are happening at Broughton. I appreciate your support as we work to share information about our school, Magnet Program, and school family with interested families. Please see the Magnet website we have that is linked on the Broughton website to provide information regarding our Global Studies program. Friday, October 30th will be Senior Night at Broughton. Our football team plays its final home game of the year against Enloe and all Fall Senior student athletes will be recognized with their parents at halftime. Please come out and support our hardworking student athletes—they have had outstanding seasons and represented Broughton well! Gates open at 6:00 p.m. so make plans to come to the game next Friday night and celebrate our Senior athletes. All Winter Athletes must pick up a wristband on Tuesday, October 27th or Wednesday, October 28th in the front lobby of the Holliday Gym during both lunches or immediately after school until 3:00 p.m. in order to try-out for their sport. Students must bring their 2nd semester report card from last school year and an up to date physical if they have not already turned one in to Coach Cicco. Students will not be able to tryout on November 2nd if they do not have a wristband. If you have any questions, please email Coach Cicco at tcicco@wcpss.net. All Wrestlers will need to report to Coach Cicco's office on Monday, October 26th, at 1:00 p.m. for their hydration and skinfold testing in order to be certified at a weight class. Wrestlers should bring with them their 2nd semester report card from last school year and an up to date physical if they have not already turned one in to Coach Cicco.
