Dear Parents,
As you are aware there are a lot of things happening in school at the moment so we will be sending lots of letters
and reminders to keep you as up to date as possible. If there is anything you are not sure about please do not

STAFFING
As some parents may be aware via news from St John’s school, Miss Mercer will be leaving us at the end of the
Autumn Term to return there. We are sad that she will be leaving us and wish her all the very best for the future.
Mrs Burcher will be returning from maternity leave in September on a part time basis. Whilst the Governors
undertake recruitment for a replacement the following structure will be in place for the Autumn Term:

Reports
These have been written by staff and I am currently going through them adding my own comments. They should be
sent home week commencing 15th July.
SPORTS NEWS
Well done to our High 5 team who represented Hyndburn at the area games in Blackpool yesterday. They were up
against some stiff opposition and gave it their all, managing to win two games. As always their team spirit was
tremendous and they represented the school and the area to a very high standard. Thank you to Mrs Shaw and Miss
Ashton for all their work in preparing the team.
SPORTS DAY – NURSERY & RECEPTION
Nursery & Reception classes will be holding their Sports Day on TUESDAY 9TH JULY from 9.30am – 11.30am. A
separate letter has been sent home with more information.
SPORTS DAY – YEAR 1 & YEAR 2
KS1 Sports Day will be held on TUESDAY 9TH JULY from 1.30pm-3.15pm. The event will take place on the grass
area of Lowerfold Park (adjacent to school).
SPORTS DAY – JUNIORS (Y3, Y4, Y5 & Y6)
KS2 Sports Day will be held on WEDNESDAY 10TH JULY from 1.30pm-3.15pm. The event will take place on the
grass area of Lowerfold Park (adjacent to school).
BOUNCEBALL
Sportscool have added a date to replace the Teacher Training Day (1st July). The remaining dates are as follows:
KS1 – Monday 8th July, Monday 15th July and Tuesday 23rd July
KS2 – Thursday 4th July, Thursday 11th July and Tuesday 23rd July
A text message should have been sent to parents direct from Sportscool to confirm this.
TENNIS
A new date has been added due to the Teacher Training Day (1st July). The remaining dates are as follows:
Monday 8th July & Monday 15th July
KEYBOARD LESSONS
If your child would be interested in starting keyboard lessons from September, please confirm this in writing and a
place will be reserved, alternatively you can email m.gaston@st-barts.lancs.sch.uk
KEYBOARD CONCERT
There will be a keyboard concert held in school on TUESDAY 16TH JULY at 9.15am. The concert will be
approximately 1 hour and parents of the children currently having keyboard lessons in school are invited to come
along.
100 CLUB PRIZES
We still have unclaimed prizes from the April and May draws. The numbers are: 46 – 3rd Prize, 52 – 1st Prize and 16 –
1st Prize. Please check your numbers and collect your winnings from the school office.

LEAVERS SERVICE – THIS SUNDAY at ST BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH
We will be holding a Leavers Service for Y6 pupils THIS SUNDAY 7th JULY at 10.00am. It would be great to see as
many people there as possible to celebrate. Could we please ask children to wear school uniform and sit together at
the front of church.
LEAVERS SERVICE – TUESDAY 23RD JULY
Although we are having a Sunday celebration in church for our Y6 leavers, we will also be saying a final farewell on
TUESDAY 23RD JULY at 2.30pm.
PHOTOGRAPHS
The deadline for photographs is this Friday 5th July. Please note that some of the classes do not have the class
Teacher on but they will be on the final print. Please send orders in a sealed envelope, clearly marked with your
child’s name and class.
SCHOOL NURSE
A text message was sent out last night to inform you that the School Nurse will be holding a ‘drop in’ session after
school this Thursday 4th July 3.30pm-4.30pm. If you have any worries or concerns about your child, please do not
hesitate to pop in for a confidential chat.
LONDON Y6 TRIP – THURSDAY 11th JULY
Just a reminder that payments are due for the London trip £40.00. More details will be sent out to the Y6 children
shortly.
WHITEHOUGH DAY TRIP – TUESDAY 16th JULY
There is a day trip planned for Y5 on Tuesday 16th July, the cost is £15.00. If you would like your child to attend,
please send payment as soon as possible in a sealed envelope, clearly marked with your child’s name and class.
