St. Ann’ School Open House – Join us Monday November 2nd through Friday November 6th from 9am2:30pm (also Wednesday evening November 4th from 6pm-8pm) for our School Open House. Come meet
our new Principal, Stacy Solomon, tour the school and see why St. Ann’s is the right fit for your child or
children. Registration forms will be onsite so make sure to get one and reserve your spot for the 2016/17
school year. Our classrooms fill-up quickly. Don’t hesitate to call us at (302)652-6567 if you want a special
visitation time but drop- in’s are always welcome. Hope to see you there!
SPONSORS/GODPARENTS To be a godparent for Baptism, a person must be 16 years or older and a
practicing and fully initiated Catholic, having completed the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and
Eucharist. If married, the union must be recognized by the Catholic Church. One Catholic godparent is
required; 2 godparents (one male & one female) is the ordinary and recommended practice. Keep in mind the
purpose of a sponsor is to give good example and support in the Catholic faith of the baptized.
Documentation of eligibility for all Catholic godparents are required from the Catholic Church where
they are registered and attend weekly mass. If you have eligibility questions, please call (302)654-8504
before choosing any godparents. The next required Baptismal Preparation class will be Thursday, November
12th at 7pm in the St. Ann’s School Library. To register, call the rectory at (302)654-5519.
MARK THE DATE!!! St. Ann’s Christmas Concert – You are cordially invited to the 2015 St. Ann’s
Christmas Concert on Sunday December 13th at 2pm. The concert will take place in beautiful St. Ann’s
Church in the historic Wilmington neighborhood of Forty Acres, and will feature the St. Ann’s Adult Choir, St.
Ann’s Children’s choir, a classical guitarist, and more. There will be a reception to follow in the school Social
Hall. This is a free concert – please come out to St. Ann’s and get in the Christmas spirit.

Consecration to Jesus through Mary Retreat – In preparation for the Jubilee Year of Mercy, a retreat
leading to Consecration to Jesus through Mary is being offered. We will use Fr. Michael Gaitley’s (MIC)
material, 33 Days to Morning Glory. If you are interested in participating in the retreat, please pick up and
complete a survey that can be found in the vestibule of the church; or contact Connie Winner Varone at

Mark the Date - SVDP is sponsoring the Catholic Charities truck to be in St. Ann’s Parking lot
next weekend - November 7th & 8th. All gently used clothing or small appliances are welcome.
St. Ann’s Athletic Registration for Basketball – grades 3rd-8th for girls and boys is currently underway. If

St. Ann’s Parish is offering Symbolon; The
Catholic Faith Explained – Sessions will run
6:30pm to 8pm each Tuesday evening through
November 17 in St. Ann’s School Library. Sessions
are free but you are encouraged to purchase the
guide book. Participants may choose to attend

FROM RELIGIOUS EDUCATION……..
STORIES OF GOD’S LOVE: Calling all parents of
4 and 5 year old children! We have a Sunday preschool program after the 9:30 Mass for children
who are not attending Catholic School. We use a
Bible-based program with age appropriate stories
from the Old and New Testament that proclaim
God’s love. The first week the children hear a story
of God’s love from the Bible and the next week is
followed with a contemporary stories (related to the
previous lesson’s Bible story) connecting God’s
love to everyday life. We also celebrate the Church
seasons, holy days and holidays! To enroll your

It is also not too late to register your first grader for
Sunday morning religious education classes! If you
want your child to be on track to prepare for First
Communion next year, they must first complete the

RCIA – DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO…has
expressed an interest in becoming Catholic? Was
baptized Catholic but has never celebrated the
Sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation? The
sessions for discernment and faith formation have
just begun! You are welcome to participate in the
process with your questions, your insights and your
faith story in a warm, accepting setting. We are
currently meeting on Tuesday evenings from 6:30

Holiday Hope – A service to the community,
Doherty Funeral Homes will sponsor a free
program designed to help grieving families and
individuals cope with the holidays. You are invited

National Vocations Awareness Week – begins
Sunday November 1. Do your part to encourage
vocations – join the Diocesan Vocations Guild. The
Guild is open to Catholics from within or with ties to
the Diocese of Wilmington who pray for, encourage
and support the bishop, priests, religious, deacons
and seminarians of the diocese. The objectives of
the Guild are achieved through prayer, service and
the affirmation of the importance of the priesthood,
diaconate and the religious life to the mission of the

Alliance of the Two Hearts – The “Communion of
Reparation all Night Vigil” is held on the first Friday
and Saturday of each month. Please join us
November 6th at Hedwig’s Chapel, 408 S. Harrison
St., Wilmington from 8:15pm to 2:30am. Includes
First Friday and First Saturday Masses, Confession
Rosary and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

Little Sisters of the Poor 33rd Annual Spaghetti
Dinner - Sunday November 1st from 12-5pm. The
cost is $12 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
Great food, home-made baked goods, raffles and
take-out is available. The location is 185 Salem
Church Road in Newark.
Intercultural Conference at St. Margaret of
Scotland – Building Intercultural Connections (BIC)
a program developed by the US Bishops
Conference to provide church leaders with cultural
training for the growing diversity in the church will
be presented on Saturday November 7th at St.
Margaret of Scotland in Newark, De from 10am6:30pm,. Admission is free but a $5.00 donation
will be requested for a magnificent multi-cultural
lunch. This conference is for all Catholics
interested in building stronger, unified parishes and

St. Helena’s Old-fashioned Christmas Bazaar &
Flea Market – Saturday November 7th from 9am8pm and Sunday November 8th from 8am-1pm.
Attic treasures, baked goods, crafts, gifts, book
sale, raffles and more. Food court is open all day
with spaghetti dinners starting a 5pm Saturday.
Sunday breakfast starts at 8am.
St. John the Beloved Craft Show – November 13
from 4pm-8pm and November 14 from 10am3:30pm. Funds raised from the show enable parish
life to provide meals for the Emmanuel Dining
Room as well as support the SJB Flood closet. For

Lights of Love Ceremony – St. Francis Hospital
on Tuesday December 8th, 2015. Mass at noon in
the hospital chapel. The celebrant is Rev. Leonard
Klein with the tree lighting and display of names in
the hospital lobby immediately following. By
making a donation of $5.00 per name, your loved
ones, living or deceased, will be honored by the
lights on the tree and their names placed on a scroll
in the hospital lobby until January 9, 2016. To

33rd Annual Festival of Trees – which will be held
Friday November 20th-Sunday November 22nd is
looking for some wonderful volunteers for a variety
of tasks such as making items for Marketplace or
our Bake Shop along with helping setting up and
taking down. As Delaware Hospice’s signature
fundraising event, the Festival of Trees comes to
Cokesbury Village in Hockessin on the above
named dates. This year’s three day festival
features an Enchanted Forest theme and welcomes
visitors 10am-4pm daily. To help or for more info,
