Munro Roberts (own business) Bruce, a mature student. was attracted to the course structure offering a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical ’hands on’ skills He graduated with a first class honours degree and in November ’02 opened B. Munro Roberts, his own couture fashion business. From small beginnings, Bruce’s business has flourished, to the extent that he is offering a work experience opportunity to a second year student this year. Jane moved to John Lewis’s head office where she quickly worked up through the company to senior garment technologist who is now responsible for the quality and fit of all own-brand fashion within the John Lewis group. She found the breadth of the course gave her the appropriate knowledge base, in textile properties, production assembly and management to take such a position. Laura Buchan – Sales Assistant with Zara in Inverness, awaiting confirmation of acceptance to Management Training Scheme with Zara. Nicola Burns – CAD Technician with Heriot Watt University. Joanne Cameron & Rosie Vennelle – Planning to take Master programme in Fashion Design at Esmod in Paris commencing in April. Ruth McLarty – Applied to take PG Home Economics course at Jordon Hill college. Current students’ contents Stephanie Hutton currently in year 4, she completed a 22 week work experience placement with Glyndebourne Opera, Lewes, near Brighton. Stephanie’s quote The clothing course seemed to offer a wider range of skills than the other courses at the Scottish Borders including Management, Marketing and Economics; which are all important aspects of the clothing industry and therefore in theory make me more employable. Nitin Vatwani is a direct entrant into year 2 of the course. He completed is work experience with Nike(Holland) and is currently in year 3.
