To be responsible for specific elements of delivery on several key themes and a number of projects. 2. To provide support to the Senior Project Officer on project related delivery and strategic project management matters. 3. To represent the Research & Monitoring Unit internally on monitoring, evaluation and research matters. 4. To represent Sustrans and the Research & Monitoring Unit externally in accordance to the organisations advocacy policy and to represent Sustrans to external parties concerned with monitoring, evaluation and research. 5. To be responsible for a number of key monitoring and evaluation activities within the Unit. 6. To help supervise a virtual or actual project team within the Research & Monitoring Unit for specific project delivery purposes. Detailed Duties: To provide assistance to the Senior Project Officer, Evaluation Managers and Director, Research & Monitoring Unit on monitoring and evaluation project delivery matters including project set up, data collection, analysis, reporting, internal liaison and external communication, in particular: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. To provide support to the Senior Project Officer to ensure that all data analysis conducted within the Unit is rigorous, accurate and timely. To undertake statistical analysis work in the appropriate project areas. To undertake economic appraisal and evaluation activities. The development of statistical, analytical and evaluation capability within the Unit; this includes analysis of time series data, statistical modelling to forecast usage of walking and cycling infrastructure, statistical analysis and testing of data from survey responses, analysis of various travel and traffic data sets. To support funding bid writing, including gathering existing findings and intelligence as well as undertaking new analysis and research as and when required for funding bids. To review academic publications and work in relation to analysis and evaluation methods, and to summarise academic and other secondary evidence. To deliver accurate and adequate reporting of all relevant statistical analysis and organisational findings, help to communicate findings to best effect internally and externally, producing purpose specific publications where needed. To provide support to colleagues and partners in understanding evidence from Sustrans’ generated work. To support the continuous development and advancement of methods used and communications produced by the Unit. To help supervise one or more Project Assistants within the Unit. To support liaison with external partners and help manage external contracts as and when needed. To support the management of resources of relevant project areas and help ensure that capacity within the Unit is adequate. To work closely with the other Project Officers, Senior Project Officers and Project Manager on common themes and projects. To undertake other such duties appropriate to the grade and the post and capabilities of the post holder as may on occasions be directed by the management group or line manager. To support and comply with the organisation's policies for the management of Health and Safety and Data Protection. 16. To work in accordance with the arrangements described in the organisation's health and safety management system including any project or department specific requirements. Working Conditions: The Research & Monitoring Unit is based in offices in Newcastle which also houses other regional staff. Occasional overnight stays away from home may be necessary.
