Chaoyang Fossil Park of Ancient Living Beings
1. Construction Contents:
Chaoyang is a treasure-house full of ancient living beings fossils. All kinds of
fossils discovered within the boundaries of this city recently aroused the wide
attention at home and abroad. Chaoyang fossil park of ancient living beings is a
special architectural complex composed by two museums, one gallery and a
wood fossil forest. The two museums are a geographical museum and a popular
science museum; one gallery is a geographical gallery and the forest is a wood
fossil forest. The geographical museum mainly displays the fine works of
ancient living beings, especially the ones unearthed in our city recently. There
are some characters and pictures which demonstrates a number of great
scientific research achievements with big influence obtained by our Chinese
scientists through studying these fossils. It also displays the mineral fine works
produced in our city and the ancient living beings fossils and mineral fine works
produced in other cities. The popular science museum mainly reappears the
natural style and features of west land of Liaoning Province 100 million years
ago with scientific and technological and art measures, trying to reveal the
natural ecological environment at that time as vivid as possible. The primitive
state of ancient living beings such as ancient geography, environment and
climate will be restored, especially the ones discovered in Chaoyang. The
geographical gallery mainly uses the ancient living beings fossils produced in
Shang Heshou District which has the advantages of low level position, many
varieties and big density to reappear the primitive state at different position by
technological means for visiting, observation and scientific research. Wood
fossil forest is established by agatized wood produced in our city. We are trying
to restore the primitive forest condition in remote antiquity to the best of our
ability taking account of scientific quality and artistry. To complete the above
installations, the facilities of fossil restoring to some extent, storing, scientific
research, food and drink, services and entertainment will also be built.
2. Selection of the Park Location
The project is going to be built in Shang Heshou Village, the ancient living
beings fossil discovering place in Long Cheng District Chaoyang City. It is 1
kilometres away from the city area, transportation is very convenient.
Geographic section is full of unique feature which is an ideal place for a
geographic park.
3. Construction Period
The entire scheme of the project was finished in May 2003 and the engineering
construction work will be completed from May 2003 to May 2006.
4. Investment Budgeatry Estimate
Total Investment: 36.15 million USD Among which the land for park is 10
million USD and the construction expense is 26.15 million USD.

7. Analysis of Benefit
It is estimated that the park will receive 320,000 people a year. The income of
entrance tickets, all kinds of special subject show, touring exhibition, popular
science topic, fossil sale, food and drink and accommodation service will reach
3.85 million USD. It is predicted that the total investment can be returned in 8.8
years.
