2. Instrument and Measurements Lab (Feng) 1) Name of laboratory Instrumentation and Measurement Laboratory 2) Room location E1413 Lafferre Hall 3) Courses (number and name) serviced by lab and number of hours of use each week during FS and WS. MAE 3800 20 hours per week during the FS and WS 4) Other uses of lab. List activity (e.g. undergraduate research), faculty member in charge, and approximate number of hours used each week. Engineers week, undergraduate research, about 3 hours per week on average. Faculty member in charge: Feng 5) Summary of equipment in lab. List larger or more significant pieces by name, and give a general description of less significant pieces. Oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, dynamometer, accelerometers, load cells, and other sensors 6) Cite strengths of lab Provide basic instruments for electric measurement. Mechanical measurement for forces, velocities, angles, etc. 7) Cite weakness of lab (include major needs) We lack instrument for micro-measurement such as Atomic Force Microscopes. We need a second dynamometer to allow students more hands-on exposure. 8) Indicate opportunities for collaboration or consolidation with other departments regarding the lab. Think in terms of collaborating to create better facilities for our students. Because of the large enrollment of the class, it is inconceivable to share either the space or the equipment with other departments.
